human rights protection

RENAF is committed to protecting human rights through prevention, documentation of violations and raising awareness of fundamental rights in South Kivu. As observers and direct witnesses to human rights violations in the region, we play a crucial role in defending the most vulnerable populations.

our objectives

  • call

for urgent, coordinated and enhanced mobilisation in favour of the protection, assistance and well-being of populations affected by conflict and displacement.

  • contribute

ongoing analyses and advocacy, in line with humanitarian coordination mechanisms, particularly the Protection Cluster and Child Protection.

  • raise awareness

on the scale and severity of rights violations observed in the field, particularly those affecting children, with our humanitarian, technical local and international partners.

strong local roots

Our work is distinguished by its local roots. We work in synergy with our local branches to report facts at the community level as accurately as possible in our advocacy efforts. Thanks to our presence in the field and our network of local partners, we ensure continuous monitoring and a response tailored to the realities of each territory.

our actions

RENAF monitors, prevents violations and promotes human rights, in coordination with other humanitarian actors. We regularly issue advocacy statements and official declarations on the humanitarian situation in specific locations in North and South Kivu provinces, taking a neutral, impartial and constructive approach.

We also organise awareness-raising sessions on fundamental rights and the prevention of violence within communities, in order to strengthen collective awareness of respect for human rights.
